We here at WoW Insider are on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

  • Vodka, currently one of the top raiding guilds in North America, has put out their Ulduar preview video. Give it a watch, then just try and tell me it doesn’t excite you
  • Children’s Week is quickly approaching, and the Hunting Lodge wants to bring the holiday into the real world. Head on over to the Hunting Lodge and give Child’s Play a helping hand!
  • Of Teeth and Claws talks Druid DoTs in Patch 3.1. DoTs of the Feral persuasion, mind. You Moonkin are out of luck on this one.
  • Wonderland has some sweet, sweet baked goods for all of you to salivate over. If you want more cakey goodness, don’t forget that we have our own World of Warcraft cake gallery.

Around Azeroth: A shocking development

High on my personal list of pain-in-the-ass mobs lies the Umbrafen Eel, which combines a low quest item drop rate with a highly unpleasant shock when you try to hit it in melee. (Other mobs on the list include Kurzen Medicine Men, pre-nerf Defias Pillagers, and any member of the murloc family with the inclination to run towards three more of its confederates when at 20% health. You’re all on notice!) Many players have had similar bad experiences and avoid the eels on alts, but new death knight Iamsparta of Stormscale wow goldjumped into the fight without hesitation and received an electrifying lesson. Some things you can only learn through experience.

Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We’d love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!

Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “Azeroth” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Breakfast Topic: Patch 3.1 after the dust has settled

Annoyed cat

Patch days are often disastrous, and in their aftermath, there is a lot to tweak, hotfix, and repair. Realms have been unstable, Authentication servers unreliable, and bugs abound.

Earlier this week, we asked you what your impressions are of live Patch 3.1, and now that you’ve had a few days to adjust to the changes, we want to know, how are you feeling about it now?

My pick for the most annoying aspect would have to be the new quest tracker that shows the icon of the quest item, if there is one, next to the information. Or, rather, on top of it. Somehow, knowing that I’ve killed 1… doesn’t really help me. Is that 1 of 12? 11 of 12? 13/17? Who knows.

Despite this easily-fixable problem, I’m loving it. Thursday night raiding was smooth as silk, and not only are dual-specs extremely handy and fun, it also makes it easier to answer questions about your off-spec. How many hit points does my Tankadin have unbuffed, you ask? Give me under one minute, and I can tell you! I can’t wait until the Equipment Manager is live.

How are you liking the changes and new features, now that you’ve had a few days to play around with them? Have your opinions changed from how you felt in the first day or two after it landed? Why?

The developers are continuing their hotfix spree, this time targeting Replenishment in the arena. While in an arena, any class that procs Replenishment will only proc it for themselves. It does not apply to the entire party while in an arena. This is something that a lot of people have expected would happen eventually, and it’s good to see that they didn’t wait for another major content patch for something like this. It had to be done, so they did it. I’d love to see that trend continue.

The arena community has been asking for this for awhile, and if you want to know their reasoning, Serennia discussed it just the other day. I strongly suggest giving it a read. Replenishment is a game changer in the arena, and in a format with teams so small, you can’t really expect every team to find a Replenishment to slot like you can in 10 and 25 man raids. Replenishment essentially being a requirement in the 3v3 format would be a disaster, and it’s been made pretty clear that teams with a Replenishment have a severe advantage over those that don’t.

A post-Patch 3.1 world seems to be one where broken things get fixed quickly, rather than just sit there broken for months until the next content patch. As long as that holds up for more than these few weeks immediately after the patch, I’m a fan of it.

WoW Insider streams from the PTR tonight

We’re going to be heading out into the PTR tonight again to see what there is to see, and we’re inviting you to come with us. Tonight at 9pm Eastern, we’ll be streaming live video from the PTR over on our Ustream page, as well as chatting live with you and anyone else who stops by.

We’re planning to check out the Argent Tournament first, and probably run through a few of the dailies there, though there’s a VoA boss to test and we may get some PvP testing in as well. It should be a good time no matter what we end up doing.

You can see the stream over on Ustream, or just click through to the second half of this post, where we’ve placed an embedded stream for you to watch and chat with. We’ll sign on to the server around 9pm Eastern (don’t worry, you can DVR Lost — we will be), and it’ll go until we’re done for the evening, whenever that is. See you there!
